BBQ & Potatoes
Tonight for dinner I grilled some BBQ pork baby back ribs, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, and for the first time, Dill Pickle Backed Beans. I would be lying if I didn't say that Pickelsburgh did not have an impcat on my choice to get and try these beans. I was pleasantly surprised by so many pickel flavored things that I decided to try these, which under normal circumstances I definitely would not have.
The Verdict?
They're ok. I wouldn't buy them again. They had a similar taste to the pickel beer I tried. By that I mean they didn't taste like Dill seasoning as much as they tasted something like the brine that pickels are made in. I guess that would be a vinegar like flavor, but I don't think that is it. Either way I wasn't that impressed.
The rest of the dinner I made was banging though!
Do You Believe in Aliens?
As previously stated I really enjoy things that sit on the fringe of science, such as cryptozoology. In the previous case I was meaning it more like a novelty and what they represent, which is mystery and fantasy in the world.
Aliens though, that is a topic that I enjoy yes, but I don't think it represents the same ideals of hope and mystery that I get when we talk about subjects in the crypto fields. I find conversations about them compelling and endlessly interesting, but there is a sense of fear and doom, almost like an inevitabilty, like death. We all face it, we all know it's there, but we don't see and and we try to ignore it while it lurks unseen.
I think that if you play the odds, there seems to be little to no chance that alien life does not exist. It also depends on your definition on what constitutes alien life. We have proven that there are microsopic organizsms in the universe that technically qualify as alien life. But is that what we mean? I don't think anyone is referring to an Amobea when we speak of Aliens, althought that would be technically true.
I should also state that I'm a big fan of the TV show the X-Files. I realize it is for entertainment purposes only, and I'm not suggesting that any part of it is true, but if Aliens did exist in real life, then the government would undoubtedly cover it up. That's what makes it so compelling when you see and hear about interactions that government employees have with something unexplained. Recently there have been a few videos that supposedly trace back to the United States Military. I want to believe that they are true, because the reactions seem genuine, but also that adventure and mystery component I think pull us all in. Here is a link to a news report from CNN.
Commentary on the validty and reliability of modern media aside, it's pretty compelling.
